Zero Waste Humboldt (ZWH) is best known locally for being the only organization specializing in waste reduction solutions. Members of ZWH educate the public, provide technical assistance and training, and advocate for sustainable materials management and Zero Waste policies. Our main priority is implementing waste prevention strategies to reduce waste generation and help local businesses integrate the Zero Waste mindset into their production processes.
If this interests you, you’ll be happy to know that Zero Waste Humboldt is looking for board members! We are looking for like-minded people who care about waste reduction and wish to help foster their community in various ways.
Board members will be required to serve for a three-year term and will be expected to commit to 48-60 hours per year. Board members will help by providing leadership, funding development, setting oversight policies for the organization, planning, hiring employees and contractors.
Additional Board Member Responsibilities:
- Attending monthly board meetings;
- Accepting one responsibility or board function, such as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Committee Chair, volunteer coordinator or Head of Fundraising;
- Serving as an ambassador for ZWH by making introductions and fostering opportunities for ZWH by collaborating with local government, community, and business leaders;
- Working with ZWH for at least one major fundraising activity annually.
