Our beloved Tule Elk at Point Reyes National Seashore are being threatened by the expanding dairy and cattle industry.
In these drought months, Elk have been dying of thirst as they are blocked from the only water sources available to them during this time of year – by fences protecting cattle.
Local beef and dairy operations, leasing 30% of Point Reyes National Park, are pressuring the National Park Service to shoot the free roaming elk while providing additional 20-year leases to private cattle industry which operates on PUBLIC lands. At a time where so much wildlife is already at stake, we ask the park to protect the elk and its habitat and NOT cave to industry pressure.
Take Action
There is a 30-day waiting period before Regional Director Woody Smeck signs off on the final plan to shoot elk. Please take the action steps below and spread this information. We only have so much time! Make your voice heard.
