M I N D F U L ☼ M O N D A Y S: House Plants

Are you part of one of the many vulnerable populations to COVID-19, and unable to spend much time in the outdoors? Or maybe you live alone and need a little buddy to hang out with?

Today our Mindful Monday tip focuses on bringing the green space inside! What are your favorite plants and how do they influence your physical and mental wellbeing? The benefits of house plants are myriad. Their aesthetics and stress-relieving effects are evident, but did you know that photosynthesis and transpiration also increase oxygen in the home, purify the air, and keep the air temperature cooler?

Our Coastal Programs Coordinator, Casey, gave us her top 5 favorites:
1. Pothos – tolerate low light environments
2. Peace Lily – gorgeous blooms
3. Spider Plant – purifies air and easy to propagate
4. Monstera Delicious – tolerate low light, grows large with a lot of sun
5. Schefflera – tolerate direct sun even during hot summers
