Here at the NEC we believe self-care is an act of rebellion. Resisting burnout in a world fueled by burning resources is sometimes the most radical thing we can be doing in our daily lives.
Here’s our inspiration:
“If an oppressor is trying to deplete a person’s emotional and physical resources, stripping them of the energy they need to resist oppression, then any behavior that protects those resources counts as resistance. Cultivating pleasure, relationships, and energy through sleep, retreat, silence, inaction, and the pursuit of activities that generate passion and creativity is essential for us to maintain the human capital required to keep engaging in political work.” – Sara Jaquette Ray, Author of a Field Guide to Climate Anxiety In what ways are you practicing self-care? How are you sustaining your activism?
