Mindful Mondays: Touchstones

M I N D F U L ☼ M O N D A Y S

Happy Monday. Today we’re thinking about natural “touchstones” – objects from the natural world that help recall our attention, remind us of a place or moment we love, and helps ease anxiety in a state of disorientation or panic.

What objects from the natural world do you find yourself gravitating toward? What have you built a special relationship with? Maybe it is a stone from your favorite beach. Maybe a pine cone you picked up on a hike with a close friend. Perhaps these objects hold some personal or universal symbolism that resonates with you – deeply, inside.

During this continued pandemic where we find ourselves inside most days, natural objects and touchstones can help remind us of the bigger world – the bigger picture. If you’re feeling anxious and ungrounded still, the next time you’re out pick up something that calls to you and put it in your pocket. Use it to recall those moments of happiness, peace, and joy.
